Police say a trucker kept driving for 3 miles after striking a 10-foot overpass that ripped his trailer off his truck.
The incident occurred on November 16th at approximately 1 a.m. in Radnor Township, Pennsylvania.
According to ABC Philadelphia, a tractor trailer was traveling on King of Prussia Road when it struck a 10 foot overpass near the SEPTA train station. The force of the impact tore open the trailer and ripped it from the tractor, leaving a portion of its cargo of plants strewn across the road.
The unidentified truck driver then kept driving, his rig reduced to just a tractor. He drove for approximately 3 more miles before the tractor caught fire at Lancaster Avenue and Airdale Road, forcing him to pull over.
No injuries were reported in the accident, but King of Prussia Road has been closed between Matsonford and Radnor Chester roads. It is expected to reopen around noon.
Witnesses say the semi truck was traveling at a ‘high rate of speed’ when it struck the overpass.
It is not yet known whether the truck driver will be cited for the incident.
