
A tractor trailer fell off a mountainside road after suffering brake problems that caused the driver to lose control of the rig.
The accident happened on December 28th at approximately 3:00 p.m. in Raleigh County, West Virginia.
According to WVNS News, the tractor trailer was was traveling down Sandstone Mountain on Interstate 64 when it lost its brakes and rear ended another semi truck. The second semi truck was then pushed into a pickup.
The truck that lost its brakes continued its wild ride and ended up making a steep drop off the side of the road.
The driver of the truck that was pulled from the cab by some good Samaritans who witnessed the accident, and was then pulled up to safety by fire crews using ropes. He was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries that were not life threatening.
The driver of the second semi, as well as the pickup driver, sustained only minor injuries in the incident.
The eastbound lanes of I-64 were shut down for several hours as crews cleared the debris, but the roadway has since been reopened.
