What started out as a regular monitoring of traffic quickly took a turn for the worse as a cop’s dash cam captures footage of an overturned tractor trailer.
The police footage was released early last week and the wreck occurred on April 24th at approximately 4 p.m. on Interstate 10 in Baytown, Texas.
A police officer was parked on a median, observing traffic when a big rig in the distance on the other side of the highway rolled.
“Breaker, breaker, major accident,” the officer reported as he rushed to the scene.
According to KPRC, the semi truck had swerved to miss another vehicle and jackknifed, causing the rig to turn over. The truck landed across the barrier wall and slid down the highway, truck on one side of the roadway, trailer on the other.
Immediately people exited their vehicles to help the trucker. One man climbed the barrier, apparently trying to scale the cab and open the door, while another peered into the windshield, apparently assessing the condition of the driver.
The good Samaritans manage to get the trucker out of the wrecked rig through the top of the cab, and together they help the man off-screen and away from the scene of the accident.
At least four other vehicles were damaged in the wreck.
No serious injuries were reported.
