
A police officer in North Carolina was issued a citation after plowing into a tractor trailer and careening into a stack of concrete slabs.
It happened on U.S. 421. in Dunn, North Carolina on Wednesday, August 2nd.
According to The Daily Record, the incident occurred as 28-year-old truck driver Nicholas Davis was making a right-turn from U.S. 421 onto a local gravel lot in his 1997 International flatbed tractor trailer.
As Davis was turning, Lillington Police officer Soonaoso Letuli approached the rig from behind in his police cruiser, and suddenly swerved off the road to the right. Letuli’s black 2006 Dodge Charger then struck the front passenger side of the truck, sending both vehicles crashing into a stack of nearby concrete slabs.
The police vehicle suffered significant damaged in the wreck, it’s front bent and leaking fluid.
Officer Letuli was on his way to North Carolina Justice Academy in Salemburg, North Carolina, when the accident occurred.
No one was injured in the incident. The exact reason for the crash is unclear, but drugs and alcohol were not involved police say.
North Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper Evelyn Campos investigated the incident and issued Officer Letuli a citation for “failure to reduce speed.”
