People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, better known as PETA, has announced its plans to erect a billboard near the site of a recent livestock trailer crash.
The crash happened on November 22nd in Riverdale, Utah, after the truck driver lost control and overturned on the highway ramp, sending cows falling onto the highway below.
The driver was uninjured, but several cattle died in the wreck.
As a response to the crash, PETA has announced its plans to erect a new billboard near the site of the accident, at the intersection of Interstate 15 and Interstate 84. The billboard will feature a picture of a cow with the words “I’m ME, Not MEAT. See the individual. Go vegan,” written beside the animal.
“Cows plummeted from an overpass and lay dying on the pavement, and those who survived the terrifying crash presumably ended up facing the slaughterhouse knife,” said Tracy Reiman, Executive Vice President of PETA on the organization’s website.
“PETA’s billboard urges motorists to prevent needless deaths like these by keeping cows and all other animals off their plates.”
This is not the first time the organization has capitalized on an unfortunate trucking accident. Over the summer, PETA erected the same billboard for a similar accident in which a cattle hauler overturned after being cut off.
