A tractor trailer hauling an oversize load tore tollbooth from its foundation on Wednesday after the truck driver tried to pass through the wrong toll lane.

The incident occurred on the afternoon of December 20th on the West Virginia Turnpike in Sharon, West Virginia.

According to WOWKTV News, a tractor trailer hauling an oversized load was traveling on the West Virginia Turnpike when the driver tried to pass through a toll lane meant for passenger vehicles only. Due to its large load, the big rig was unable to fit through the small toll lane and struck the toll booth, ripping the booth from its foundation and destroying some security cameras.

The truck driver was not injured in the accident, but the toll booth operator was transported to a hospital with injuries that were not life threatening.

Crews were able to replace the toll booth and cameras in a couple hours, and all lanes at the toll station in Sharon, West Virginia have since been reopened.

The truck driver has been cited with failure to obey traffic signs.
