One person was killed after a speeding car plowed into a tractor trailer on District Boulevard in Bakersfield, California.
It happened on Monday, August 14th in the 7500 block of District Boulevard at approximately 4:30 p.m.
According to Bakersfield Now, a tractor trailer was stopped at an intersection waiting to turn, when a gray sedan came speeding up from behind. Witnesses say the gray car was going around 70 mph when it attempted to pass another car. The driver of the gray car then lost control and spun into the back of the stopped tractor trailer.
The male driver of the gray car was transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries, but his female passenger died in the accident. The truck driver was not injured in the crash.
“Those speed limits are there for a reason…to keep you as a driver and your passenger safe,” said local Police Sergeant Don Cegielski.
The identities of the people involved in the incident have not yet been released.
