
One is dead and another injured after a truck driver lost control of his rig, sending it crashing over the side of a bridge.
The accident happened on Wednesday, November 29th at approximately 7:04 a.m. in Sullivan County, Tennessee.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol says that the semi truck was traveling north on Interstate 81 near exit 69 when the driver lost control and went over the median, sending the truck crashing through a barrier wall and plunging onto Highway 394 below.
The truck driver, who has not been identified, died in the accident, but a passenger resting in the sleeper berth at the time of the accident survived. The passenger, whose identity has not yet been released, was airlifted to a nearby hospital in critical condition, reported WJHL.
The truck was on its way back home to Pennsylvania after making a stop in Nashville, Tennessee.
Highway 394 at the I-81 overpass has been closed as crews work to investigate the exact cause of the incident and clean up the debris. As of 11:00 a.m., Highway 394 was expected to be closed for several more hours.
