It’s a bird, it’s a plane, no it’s Swiss pilot Yves Rossy. Okay, admittedly that doesn’t have as nice of a ring to it as Superman, but this isn’t a comic book.
Yves Rossy, has been spreading his jet powered wings and flying over sites like the Swiss Alps and the Grand Canyon over the last three years. He designed the carbon fiber wings himself, after several years of testing.
When Rossy wears the jet pack, his body becomes the controls. Arching his back causes him to elevate, and pushing his shoulder forward lowers his altitude. With a top speed of 189, and average speed of 120 mile per hour, he literally soars through the air — and into the record books.
