A motorist filmed an accident involving an out of control tractor trailer on a Pennsylvania highway earlier this week.

It happened on the Mid-County Expressway portion of I-476 in Delaware County, Pennsylvania on Monday, June 3rd.

According to 6ABC, Victor Alarcon was driving on I-476 behind a tractor trailer when he noticed it driving strangely and began recording.

“I said, ‘Hold on. I think something is going on here.’ Either he is playing around with an 18 wheeler… or he is falling asleep at the wheel,” said Alarcon.

The semi truck swerved from lane to lane until it finally struck the guard rail on the left side of the highway near the Broomall exit. The impact caused the truck to lose its load and spill fluids on the roadway.

“I kind of expected what was going to happen. Didn’t want it to happen, but there was no way to stop it,” Alarcon said.

Alarcon and his father stopped their car and got out to try and help the truck driver, but the man was not responsive.

“I didn’t smell any alcohol or see any alcohol bottles in the cabin. So, I believe he probably fell asleep,” Alarcon said.

Emergency crews rescued the driver from the wrecked semi truck and he was taken to a hospital with non life-threatening injuries and possibly a broken arm.

All lanes of the Mid-County Expressway were closed for cleanup for approximately 7 hours but were reopened on Monday night.

The official cause of the crash has not yet been released, as the investigation is still underway.
