An incident of road rage between a motorist and a box truck driver took an unexpected turn after the car driver whipped out a can of paint at a red light.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, September 12th, on both the New York and New Jersey sides of the Lincoln Tunnel.

According to the Gothamist, a box truck and a Toyota sedan were driving on the New Jersey side of the Lincoln tunnel expressway when they nearly crashed. The two drove alongside each other through the Lincoln Tunnel, shouting at each other through open windows.

The box truck driver and motorist then came to a red light on the New York side of the tunnel. The motorist then exited his car with a can of paint and “spray painted an image on the victim’s truck and attempted to spray paint at the victim,” according to Joe Pentangelo, spokesperson for the Port Authority.

“The victim thwarted the suspect’s attempt by blocking the paint stream with his hand,” he added.

Officials were then called to the scene.

The car driver, 34-year-old Felix Zeydelis, was arrested and currently faces charges of criminal mischief and attempted assault. The identity of the truck driver was not released.
