Crete Carrier Corporation has announced a 3 mph increase to their drivers’ maximum cruise speeds.
The corporation, which includes Crete Carrier, Shaffer Trucking, and Hunt Transportation fleets, has changed the maximum cruise speed from 62 mph to 65 mph beginning, Monday, June 12th.
“The change is effective upon your first scheduled truck PM appointment on or after Monday, June 12th,” said Winston Ostergard, Vice President of Maintenance and Equipment for Crete Carrier, in a press release.
Crete says their previous speed limits were implemented for fuel economy and safety reasons.
However, the company says recent advancements in crash avoidance technologies, such as adaptive cruise control and roll stability, will allow them to to successfully up the maximum speed without compromising road safety.
Crete is using the announcement to help recruit drivers who may have been turned off by the previous speed limitations.
“We hope you are excited about this change!” said Crete CEO Tonn Ostergard.
“Our drivers are our best recruiters, please share this news with other drivers and help us hire the best drivers we need to support the growth of our customers,” Ostergard continued.
Crete has released a video announcing the policy change, which can be seen below.
