Traffic was backed up for hours in Denton after a semi truck went off road Wednesday morning.

The accident happened on July 18th at around 7:00 a.m. in Denton, Texas.

According to the Denton Record-Chronicle, the semi truck hauling double trailers was traveling south on Interstate 35W near the Crawford Road bridge when it suddenly veered off road, into a drainage ditch and crashed into the side of the overpass.

The front of the tractor trailer was seriously damaged in the wreck and the male truck driver was transported to a hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The accident forced the closure of Crawford Road beneath I-35W for several hours as crews worked with multiple heavy wreckers to clear the tractor trailer away from the scene of the wreck.

The incident has since been cleared but the incident is still under investigation to determine why the semi truck left the roadway in the first place.
