A trucker was taken to the hospital with serious injuries Monday after a piece of equipment from another rig crashed through his windshield and struck him in the chest.
The accident happened on October 15th in Selma, North Carolina.
According to WRAL News, the truck driver was traveling north on Interstate 95 when a strap winch from another semi truck came loose and shattered his windshield.
The trucker was able to pull over and call 911 but apparently left his rig as he was awaiting help and ended up on the ground beneath his truck, attracting the attention of a DOT worker who stopped to help until emergency crews arrived.
The unnamed driver was then transported to a nearby hospital with serious but seemingly non-life-threatening injuries. Troopers on the scene speculate he may have suffered a broken collar bone.
It is not clear if the driver whose equipment caused the incident was even found or cited.
