Portions of Interstate 35 in Texas will be closed for construction over the next two weekends.
Construction on I-35 will begin in Temple, Texas on Thursday, April 12th at around 7:00 p.m.
The southbound lanes will be shut down between North Loop 363 and Spur 290 to allow crews to repave the entire roadway. I-35 will reopen around 7:00 a.m. on Friday, April 13th, but until then, drivers are asked to take exit 303 off of I-35 to Spur 290/Industrial Boulevard/ 3rd Street and reenter I-35 just south of the new US 290 intersection, reported KcenTV News.
The following day, Saturday, April 14th at around 7:00 p.m., I-35 will be shut down in both directions in Waco, Texas to allow crews to demolish the Forrest Street Bridge. TXDOT suggests drivers use Loop 340 as an alternate route. I-35 will reopen at around 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 15th.
Then, the following weekend beginning at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 21st, both the north and southbound lanes of I-35 will be closed at the Central and Adams Street intersection in Temple, Texas to allow crews to finish demolition of the Adams Avenue bridge over I-35. Crews will also be installing new signs and message boards. I-35 is then expected to reopen at noon on Sunday, April 22nd.
Drivers are also expected to take alternate routes during the April 21st and 22nd construction, but TXDOT has not made any alternate route recommendations for that roadwork as of April 12th.
