A large lot at a failing Houston-area mall has been purchased by a company looking to build a brand new truck stop.
A 22-acre portion of the Greenspoint Mall in Houston, Texas was purchased by Spring Real Estate Investments LLC, led by Zulfiqar Karedia, who intends to turn the space into a new truck stop with retail space.
The Greenspoint region is sometimes referred to as “Gunspoint” by locals, due to its history of high crime.
The newly acquired lot, which used to house a Macy’s store with a large parking lot, fronts Interstate 45 and provides easy access to Beltway 8.
The project is still in the planning stages, and may takes several years before construction begins.
