Let’s face it — getting stuck at a shipper or receiver’s facility for hours on end is a pain in the you-know-what. And from a business stand point it’s completely inefficient. You’re not on the road, and your company is down a driver for indefinite amount of time.
Some actions are being taken to fight excessive downtime such as mandated driver detention pay in the Grow America Act. But that doesn’t solve the problem, that just pays you for it.
But what if there was a a way to solve it with technology? Well, there may already be. A European trucking company is using customized trailers that allows a truck to be quickly unloaded all at once, and allows a shipper to have your load ready to be picked up before you even arrive.
