Two drivers succumbed to their injuries after a serious accident in Mississippi on Tuesday.
The accident happened on August 7th at around 6:30 a.m. in Copiah County, Mississippi.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol says that an empty log truck was traveling east along Highway 28 between Bethesda Road and East Whitworth Street and a dump truck was traveling west along the same road when one of the rigs left its lane, causing a head on collision that mangled both trucks and left one overturned, blocking lanes in both directions.
The 50-year-old log truck driver, Charles Ray Halford, died on scene but the other driver, 49-year-old James E. Millender, was flown to a nearby hospital where he later died of his injuries, reported WAPT News.
The accident has since been cleared and the roadway has reopened, but officials are still investigating the details of the crash.
