A truck driver who was stranded in a large snow storm got an unexpected treat when a teenager rode her horse for an hour to give him food and coffee.
The girl, 18-year-old Eileen Grace Eagle Bears, spotted the stranded driver on a live news feed showing trapped vehicles on Highway 10 in Manitoba, Canada. She first saw the stranded truck on Monday evening, and when she checked the following morning — the truck was still in the same position.
So she decided to take matters into her own hands and rode her beloved horse, Mr. Smudge, for three miles on the cold, snowy, roads. The journey took more than an hour, but on Tuesday afternoon, she safely made it to the driver and delivered a hot cup of coffee.
“I knocked on the door to the truck … woke him up and asked if he was all right and gave him coffee,” she said in an interview with Huffington Post Canada.
Her mother captured this screenshot from the live news feed, showing the girl and her horse delivering the coffee to the driver.
After handing him the coffee, Eagle Bears found out that the driver was also running low on food, so she promised to return — and she did just that. Later than evening, 18-year-old Eagle Bears showed up with a hot meal for the stranded trucker.
“I thought he would be getting pretty hungry, and that’s not a good feeling, I just put on extra clothes and did what I promised I would,” she said.
