The FMCSA has announced the launch of a tour that will send FMCSA agents to truck shows throughout the country in an effort to help drivers better understand the ELD mandate.
The “interactive exhibit booth will answer questions, provide consumer-friendly resources and materials, and review drivers’ and carriers’ responsibilities,” to try and ease the transition from log books to ELDs, an official FMCSA press release reads.
This tour will also include “consumer friendly driver presentations, panels and other resources.”
FMCSA officials will be making 6 stops across the country starting Thursday, July 13th.
The schedule is as follows:
-July 13-15 at the Iowa 80 Truckstop Jamboree in Walcott, Iowa
-August 24-26 at the Great American Trucking Show in Dallas, Texas.
-September 25-27 at the North American Commercial Vehicle Show in Atlanta, Georgia.
-October 14-15 at the California Trucking Show in Ontario, California.
-October 21-24 at the American Trucking Associations Management Conference and Exhibition in Orlando, Florida.
-November 6-8 at the Women in Trucking Accelerate! Conference and Expo in Kansas City, Missouri.
Despite heavy opposition, the mandate is expected to go into effect on December 18th, 2017 and will require a majority of interstate truck drivers to switch from paper logbooks to electronic logging devices.
