The food selections in Pilot Flying J travel centers are getting a makeover from celebrity chef Tim Love.
According to the Star-Telegram, in the near future, Love will be helping Pilot Flying J to upgrade the food items at more than 750 locations nationwide by creating new “easy to carry and easy to eat” items and improving upon old favorites.
Known for his Urban Western dishes, the famous foodie has appeared on such television shows as “Iron Chef” and “Top Chef.”
Love’s first successful restaurant, Lonesome Dove Western Bistro in Ft. Worth, turned 17 this month. Love is also the owner of several successful restaurants in Knoxville, Austin, and beyond.
“I am thrilled to be partnering with Pilot Flying J. They truly want to provide a better food experience for their guests,” chef Love said in a press release. “Our mission will be to create nutritious options that are easy to carry and easy to eat – that criteria tends to be top of mind for most travelers, but hard to come by on the road.”
More than 1.3 million customers visit Pilot Flying J truck stops on a daily basis, the company says.
In certain Texas locations, Love will be incorporating the area’s culinary culture into his recipes.
“There is certainly a need to challenge the status quo for those on the go,” Love said of the opportunity to collaborate.
“I’ve always been a big fan of the brand [Pilot Flying J],” he added.
