Five students were sent to the hospital after a construction zone slowdown resulted in a pileup between their school bus and two tractor trailers.
It happened on Thursday, September 28th at approximately 12:45 p.m. on Highway 95 between Buckeye Arizona and Bullhead City, Arizona.
According to Mohave Daily News, a school bus was carrying 33 students from Buckeye, Arizona to a volleyball match in Bullhead City, Arizona when the bus came to a stop for construction south of 5-Mile-Road. A tractor trailer traveling behind the school bus was unable to stop in time and crashed into the back of the bus. The bus was then pushed into a second semi stopped in front of it.
5 students were transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
The bus driver was initially trapped inside the bus following the collision but was able to escape the wrecked bus on his own without any injuries. He was not taken to a hospital.
No other injuries were reported.
The remaining students were loaded onto another school bus and taken to a nearby hospital to be checked out as a precaution. As the students waited to be checked out, the team they were supposed to play in the volleyball match picked up pizza and sandwiches and delivered them to the hospital.

“It’s not about the game anymore,” said the Colorado Union High School District in a statement.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the Buckeye players, staff and families who are affected by the accident. We’ve reached out to our colleagues in Buckeye and have offered to help in any way possible.”
“I’m frustrated and nervous,” said Crystal Dorry, a parent of a student on the bus, reported AZ Central.
“I understand driving big rigs is not the easiest job, but a lot of these (truck) drivers drive fast.”
Highway 95 was shut down south of 5-Mile-Road until Thursday evening.
