A multi-vehicle crash involving a tractor trailer led to a large fire this afternoon outside of Royal Oak, Michigan.

It happened at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Interstate 696 between Bermuda Street and Woodward Avenue.

According to Fox 2, a semi truck, an SUV, and a car were driving west on I-696 when a crash occurred, causing at least two of the vehicles to catch fire.

None of the 4 people involved were injured in the accident.

Smoke could be seen for miles as firefighters worked to put out the blaze.

The interstate was closed in both directions but the eastbound side has since been reopened.

Westbound traffic is being directed off the highway and onto Bermuda Street.

There is no word on when the westbound lanes will be open, and no details have been released on the cause of the crash.
