A dump truck struck a bear that was on the road on Wednesday morning, causing the truck to overturn and block traffic.
It happened on August 23rd on an Interstate 25 on-ramp in Castle Rock, Colorado.
According to the Colorado Springs Police Department, at approximately 7 a.m., a dump truck towing a front-end loader was approaching Interstate 25 when it encountered a bear on the northbound on-ramp.

The truck reportedly struck the bear as it crossed the road, causing the dump truck and front-loader to overturn.
The driver of the truck was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Police say the bear was so severely injured, that it had to be put down at the scene.
The Colorado Department of Transportation predicts the clean up will take around 4 hours. Officials suggests that motorists use an alternate route such as Castle Rock Parkway, Wilcox Street/Wolfensberger Road, and Plum Creek Boulevard.

The on-ramp has been reopened.
