In Olathe, Kansas, residents call a dump truck driver a “hero” for saving the lives of a group of neighborhood children after he lost control of his truck.
Although details about the incident at this time are unclear, according to reports, on Monday around 5 p.m., the dump truck driver somehow lost control as he headed west on 111th Terrace. He entered a cul-de-sac and then came crashing down an embankment between two houses.
Residents reported that the driver somehow managed to maintain enough control as he swerved the dump truck in order to avoid hitting a group of children playing in the cul-de-sac.
As seen in Fox 4 News’ video , one resident named the driver a hero.
This resident stated:
“I don’t know how he did it, but he had the presence of mind as far as I know. He saved lives. It’s a miracle to me.”
At this time damage appears minimal. According to Fox 4 News, the driver sustained serious injuries and remains in critical condition. No other injuries were reported.
Police are waiting on the driver’s recovery before they question him about the incident.
