In the realm of weird stories out on the open highway of North America, this one ranks rather high. On Saturday, the Buffalo News reported, a tractor trailer in Tonawanda, New York, was found unknowingly dragging about 2,000 pounds of boulders underneath his rig.
It started at about 9:15 in the morning, when 66 year old Samual Daniels from Buffalo New York, made a turn at Niagara Street and Two Mile Creek Road. He cut the corner too sharply and hit a fire hydrant. He kept driving thinking that was the extent of the damage. But, his truck just wasn’t driving properly after that, and he couldn’t figure out why. He got about a mile down the road, and was finally pulled over by Tonawanda Police.
They alerted him that he had gotten two large boulders stuck underneath the wheels and had been dragging them ever since. A massive tow truck was called in, and they hoisted the back half of the tractor trailer off the ground so that the boulders could be freed.
Daniels received citations for leaving the scene of an accident, making an improper turn, and failure to use a truck route.
