Dementia and Alzheimer’s doesn't stop this trucker from going on one last ride before retirement

74-year-old Bobbie “Mac” Crosson enjoyed a 40+ year trucking career before it came to a halt at the hands of dementia and Alzheimer’s.

Thanks to Diversicare of Boaz’s “Dreamcatcher” program, he was able to experience life in the cab one last time on June 19, 2018.

As noted by The Sand Mountain Reporter, Crosson reminisced about the good old days, laughing about how he didn’t have to drive this time. His former employer, Mike Poore, spoke very highly of Crosson.

“I never asked him anything that he wasn’t willing to do,” said Poore. “He’s a good man. A good driver like him is really hard to come by now. He would drive from daylight to dark, and sometimes even longer. He [used to say], ‘As long as the truck will keep pushing the snow out of the way, I’ll keep going.’”

Although Crosson has come to the end of his trucking career, he remains thankful for God and his family.

“It’s just a blessing,” Crosson said. “I know who’s watching over me. He’s watched over me for all these years so I’ve got nothing to worry about.”
