Police seized $1.6 million worth of marijuana from a semi truck on Wednesday after the rig attempted to skip a required weigh station.
The drugs were seized on November 1st on Interstate 85 in Troup County, Georgia.
According to The Ledger-Enquirer, truck driver Amaury Izquierdo Mansito was traveling north on I-85 near mile marker 23 when he passed a required weigh station while ‘failing to maintain his lane.’
Police Sgt. Nathan Taylor then pursued the white Freightliner driven by Mansito and pulled him over.
Upon an inspection of the rig, 151 pounds of high-grade marijuana were discovered in the trailer, and Mansito and his passenger Marco Alfaro were placed under arrest. At the time of the arrest, Mansito was driving on an expired license.
Both men were charged with trafficking marijuana.
Mansito also faces charges of failure to obey a traffic control device, failure to maintain lane, and driving with an expired license.
