Celadon Group has announced a new safety incentive program that will reward drivers with points for various safety achievements. The point totals will be displayed on a company-wide leaderboard and can be redeemed for various prizes.
“After accumulating points each quarter, you’ll be able to redeem those points immediately at the end of each quarter for some great prizes. You will also be able to compete against your peers for a spot on the leaderboard,” the company’s website states.
To qualify for the program, a full-time company driver must complete at least 10,000 miles as a solo or team mileage driver (20,000 total miles for teams) in a quarter. The points will then be earned at a rate of 1 point per mile over 10,000.
Hourly drivers will earn 35 points per hour after completing 180 hours in one quarter.
30,000 extra points will be given to drivers who surpass 30,000 miles or 750 hours.
Roadside inspections without violations will also gain drivers an additional 4,000 points.
Drivers who were involved in accidents or incidents, log counseling or corrective action, failed to submit to an inspection on time or failed to complete the Quarterly Safety Training will not be eligible to earn points in the quarter in which the event occurred.
Drivers who have committed a violation of local, state, or federal regulation or company policy, as well as drivers who were involved in excessive critical events, will also be disqualified from earning points that quarter.
Qualifying drivers will be able to check leaderboards, point totals, and to redeem prizes, using an online employee dashboard that will launch on July 1st.
