A crash involving 5 vehicles caused an overturned semi truck and a shutdown of Interstate 95 on Sunday evening.

The accident happened in Bridgeport, Connecticut near exit 27A at approximately 6:15 p.m.

According to News 8, 24-year-old Estee Lin was driving in the right lane of northbound I-95 when 28-year-old Erin Kelly drove up behind Lin and began tailgating her vehicle.

Kelly then crashed her car into Lin’s car, causing both vehicles to lose control. This created a chain reaction on the highway, involving two more cars in the wreck and overturning a tractor trailer hauling antifreeze.

Six people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

A section of I-95 was closed while the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection cleaned the antifreeze from the roadway and ensured no environmental damage had occurred.

The northbound lanes of I-95 were shut down until 2 a.m. on Monday morning.

Kelly was found to be at fault for the incident and was ticketed for following another vehicle too closely.
