A food service box truck collided with a Pre-K mini-bus near Quincy Massachusetts last week and police say distracted driving is to blame.

The incident happened on Wednesday, April 26th, however police have just released the results of their investigation

According to Capt. John Dougan of the Quincy Police Department, Keith Ennis was driving the box truck north towards the intersection of Southern Artery and South Street, while using his cell phone to check his next delivery.

While driving, Ennis dropped the cell phone he was using. As Ennis leaned down to grab the fallen phone, the light at the intersection changed to red. By the time Ennis looked back up and saw the red light, it was too late to stop the truck.

The mini-bus was struck by the box truck and pushed into a third vehicle that was stopped at the red light. The bus was carrying 3 children, all 3 or 4 years of age.

The 3 children and their bus driver were all hospitalized. All were released by the end of the day, the Patriot Ledger reported.

No other injuries were reported.

Police spent several days reconstructing the crash before citing Ennis with negligent driving, failure to stop at a red light, and using an electronic device while driving.
