Thanks to Facebook, an Alaskan trucker’s hobby has turned into a budding business.
Driver Christopher Vallee, a seasonal driver, began building hand-carved model trucks during his time off.
After posting several images of his model trucks on Facebook, he became inundated with requests and interest from buyers.
One of his first customers was from the general manager of Kenworth Alaska, who plans to display the truck inside his shop.
Valle says his Kenworth model was one of the most intricate and beautiful carvings he’s worked on: “The hood opens up, and there’s a motor in it – the inside of the cab is detailed down to the Kenworth emblems on the foot pedals, and the tractor is two and a half feet long.”.
In addition, he’s won several awards for his model big rigs at state fairs and festivals.
Each model takes a minimum of 50 man hours and costs between $500-$2500
