Within the past two days, there have been two separate shootings at two separate trucking companies. The back-to-back shootings have police questioning if they may have been related.
Earlier, we reported on the Monday shooting that happened at the Old Dominion facility in Jacksonville Florida. 50-year-old Marty Coffey, who worked at the trucking company, was shot and killed outside the building. The suspect, who was driving a small white car, was not found.
The second shooting took place in Richland, Mississippi Tuesday night at the Southeastern Freight Lines Facility.
Around 6 p.m., a man opened fire and shot 8 bullets into an employee’s vehicle.
The victim drove himself to a police station where he was then taken to a hospital where he survived his serious injuries.
According to First Coast News, the gunman was found dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He was reported to have been earlier driving a small white car.
It was reported that the suspect is believed to be the same in both incidents. Florida victim, Coffey, worked at Old Dominion in Jacksonville and, before that, he worked at Southeastern Freight in Richland where the Mississippi shooting happened.
The gunman was reported to have been fired from Southeastern Freight Lines prior to the shooting.
Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances.
