Truck driver Sergei Dratchev was getting ready to leave New York City when he took a walk to examine an alternate route near the I-495 entrance on Woodhaven Ave. in Queens, New York.

When he approached an overpass with a height clearance of 12′ 9″, he spotted a semi truck with a standard 13′ 6″ trailer attempting to pass under it — and succeeding.

“These signs don’t mean anything” he proclaims after shooting the footage.

New York City is notorious for posting inaccurate and confusing signage that often makes things complicated for drivers who aren’t from the area.

According to Landline Magazine, the actual heights on many NYC overpasses are one foot taller than the signs indicate, in order to account for snow pileup. Some drivers (jokingly) speculate that it’s really just to screw with truck drivers.

Either way, use this video as your evidence and don’t be that guy who tries it out himself. You never know — you might encounter a street sign in NYC that’s actually telling the truth.
