Records were broken in a completely insane stunt collaborated by Lotus Formula 1 and EMC. The stunt was to jump a semi trailer off a ramp while the F1 car slid underneath.
The driver of the truck was non other than Mike Ryan, famous Hollywood stuntman. Ryan has done some pretty incredible stuff with semis. When we last saw him, he was doing wheelies and donuts. Even after 30+ years of stunt driving, jumping a semi with the trailer still attached was a first for him.
Of course, the necessary precautions were made. The jump was calculated on a computer, the ramps were made of very durable metal and was drilled to the ground to prevent shuffling, the truck was gutted of anything flammable, emergency crew on the side. If anything went wrong, they were well prepared.
Fortunately, nothing went wrong. The truck and F1 racer drove neck and neck. Ryan makes the jump and managed to reach a wopping 83’7″, allowing Martin Ivanov to slip right under.
