Almost 80 illegal immigrants were discovered locked inside a semi truck in Texas on Saturday.
The illegal immigrants were discovered on August 11th at the Interstate 35 checkpoint in Laredo, Texas.
According to KGNS TV News, the semi truck was in the primary inspection lane when a K9 alerted to the presence of either concealed humans or drugs, so the rig was directed to secondary inspection. However, agents say that the semi truck driver then continued on I-35, leading Border Patrol agents on a vehicle pursuit.
The semi truck was finally stopped around mile marker 30 and agents were able to search the trailer, where they found 78 immigrants hailing from Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Brazil, Ecuador, the Dominican Republic, and even India.
The truck’s driver and passenger were then arrested and the trailer was seized by Border Patrol.
