Three men were killed early Monday when a motorist drove into traffic in an attempt to pass a truck.

The accident happened Monday, April 24th at 6:36 am on State Road 710 in Martin County, Florida.

According to TCPalm, Odilon Velasquez Morales was driving a 1998 Honda Civic south on S.R. 710 when he tried to pass a tractor trailer in front of him.  Ronny Morales- Perez was driving north on S.R. 710 in a 2003 Mercury when Odilon attempted the pass, causing the cars to collide head-on.

Odilon had two passengers in his car at the time of the collision. All three persons were declared dead on site.

Ronny and his single passenger were seriously injured in the crash and were airlifted to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach. They were last reported to be in critical condition. Reports have not been released on the condition of the truck driver.

The semi truck was not involved in the wreck.

Officials say two of the three people killed in the incident were wearing seatbelts, though neither of the injured parties were. No alcohol was involved.
