
Three people are dead after a motorist left their lane and struck an oncoming semi truck head-on Thursday morning.
The accident happened on May 17th at approximately 10:55 a.m. in Meigs County, Ohio.
According to WSAZ News, 80-year-old motorist, Brooks Boulware, was driving an SUV west on US Highway 33 between state Route 124 and the Ravenswood Bridge when, for reasons not yet known, the SUV left its lane and collided head on with an oncoming semi truck traveling in the eastbound lane. The force of the impact crushed the front of the SUV and caused the tractor trailer to jackknife onto the grassy shoulder.
Two passengers in the SUV, 78-year-old Maxine Boulware, and 73-year-old William Brame, were pronounced dead on scene while a third passenger, 66-year-old Dorothy Brame, was transported to a nearby hospital where she soon succumbed to her injuries.
The driver of the SUV, Brooks Boulware, suffered “incapacitating injuries” according to police, and is being held at Cabell Huntington Hospital.
The truck driver, a 55-year-old unnamed man from Hesperia, California, suffered only minor injuries in the incident.
Highway 33 was shut down between state Route 124 and the Ravenswood bridge for about six hours as crews worked to investigate the incident and clear the wreckage, but the incident has since been cleared and the roadway, reopened.
The incident is still under investigation.
