Curious how semi trucks of the future might look? Take a peek at Airflow’s BulletTruck prototype.
Regardless of whether people find them aesthetically pleasing or not, get used to the idea that the semi truck form will evolve, especially with increasing emissions standards.
Right now modern Semis use about 50% of their fuel to fight through the air and use about 5-6 MPG compared to the Airflow, which uses 13 MPG. That’s more than double the fuel efficiency.
The Airflow BulletTruck, just like it’s name implies, uses an age-old concept named Aerodynamics. The bullet nose of the Airflow extends out and lets the air hug its smooth sides, ultimately letting the air escape swiftly from its retractable tapered rear.
In addition to the massively increased fuel efficiency, the Airflow also provides for better traction and balance on the road with it’s sleek design.
Not only does our air improve by getting rid of 21 million tons of toxic emissions, but our economy improves by writing off 7.5 billon gallons of fuel off the books of our business’ shipping costs.
So is there any debate really (besides the radical design changes)? Weigh in on the streamlining of future semi trucks in the comments below.
