A parking dispute at a truck stop in California led to a stabbing that left one trucker in the hospital and another behind bars earlier this week.
It happened on Monday, November 13th, in Hesperia, California.
According to local news reports, two truck drivers were at the Pilot Truck Stop at 8701 Highway 395 when one of the drivers, 29-year-old truck driver Joseph Leroy, approached an unidentified 34-year-old trucker to confront him about the way he was parked.
Police say the confrontation quickly escalated into an argument. That’s when Leroy allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed the other truck driver.
“An argument occurred, reportedly over how a vehicle was parked. The suspect produced a weapon and attacked the victim,” said Hesperia Sheriff’s station spokeswoman Jackie Chamber.
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The extent of his injuries are not known.
Leroy was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon and is being held at the High Desert Detention Center in lieu of $50,000 bail.
