Police in Winnebago County, Illinois, have launched an investigation after a trucker discovered a dead body while inspecting his rig.
The discovery was made on Wednesday, November 1st, at the Road Ranger Pilot truck stop in South Beloit, Illinois.
According to police reports, the body was found early Wednesday morning, in a field on the east side of the truck stop parking lot, located at 6070 Gardner St.
The deceased person was identified as a 27-year-old Milwuakee-resident Nakiela A. Thompson
Investigators are using surveillance video from the truck stop to look for clues.
There are currently no suspects in the case, however foul play has not been ruled out. If the case is determined to be a homicide, it would be the first homicide in South Beloit in six years.
