As part of their truck safety event, the folks over at seat belt maker IMMI demonstrated why wearing a seat belt while driving a semi is of utmost importance.
In order to show the safety effects of seat belts in big rigs, they set up a semi truck with test dummies — one with a seat belt and one without. In the accompanying video that was released on their YouTube page, you can see the results.
The passenger without the seat belt is completely annihilated as the bobtail truck hits the wall head on. The driver with the seat belt, appears to be only shaken up.
For most drivers, putting on a seat belt is something you don’t think twice about. If you’re one of the few that think you’ll be okay with out it, hopefully this changes your mind.
