A truck driver was involved in a serious collision while traveling down the wrong-side of the highway in Saco, Maine.

It happened around 9:30 p.m. on Monday as the tractor trailer traveled north in the southbound lanes of the Maine Turnpike.

The 49-year-old truck driver, Michael Crews, reportedly drove for several miles with no lights on before colliding with a police cruiser. According to WCVB, the police cruiser had to swerve to avoid a head-on collision.

Police speculated that Crews took the wrong entrance to the highway from the Kennebunk service plaza.

The police car sustained minor damage. The truck driver and a trooper were taken to a hospital for precautionary measures but were uninjured.

Two lanes near the Biddeford Exit were temporarily shut down and have since reopened.

Crews has been charged with driving to endanger.
