The driver of a vehicle headed the wrong-way on Interstate 10 in Quartzsite, Arizona, plowed into another vehicle head-on Friday morning. The impact caused two other vehicles to get hit.
According to the DailyJournal, the wrong-way driver is in critical condition, and the woman that she hit died at the scene.
The chaos did not end there, however.
Two hours later, as the cleanup process was underway, a semi trucking failed to slow down for road congestion caused by the earlier accident and rear ended another semi truck which was hauling double trailers. Two other semi trucks were hit as well.
In total, four passenger vehicles, and four commercial vehicles were involved in wrecks on the I-10 within hours. The driver of the semi truck that failed slow down died at the scene.
Authorities believe fatigue may have been a factor in the semi truck crash. An investigation is currently underway.
