Drivers of all kind were shocked and confused as they were stuck in traffic behind a slew of trucks. It was Oct. 25th in Richmond, Virginia, when many people were held up at Interstate 95.

Many people stopped and wondered about the spectacle they were seeing. Commercial vehicles, all lined up together stretching out for miles. What they were witnessing was the 4th annual World’s Largest Truck Convoy.

The World’s Largest Truck Convoy for the Special Olympics was created by Norm Schneiderhan, a corporal for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, who was inspired by the influence the special Olympics had on his life and his family’s involvement with trucking.

It’s a one-day celebration in the trucking industry where trucks are escorted by police throughout 38 states and Canada hoping to spread awareness and raise funds for the Special Olympics.

This year saw the most participants than ever before, boasting 110 vehicles from a plethora of companies such as CVS, Conway Freight, Fedex, Lucky Dog trucking and many more.
