Back on April 1, 49-year-old Laura Mayeuax drove her Chevy Suburban directly in front of an oncoming semi truck on the I-35E in Waxahachie, Texas.

According to official police reporters, Mayeuax told officers that she intentionally hit the semi truck in a failed suicide attempt. They also found open alcohol containers in her vehicle.

After the crash, she was taken to a nearby hospital, where it was determined that her blood-alcohol content was more than double the legal limit.

On Wednesday, June 15, Mayeaux turned herself into the Waxahachie police department and was charged with criminal mischief and driving while intoxicated, as reported by the Waxahachie Daily Light.

The crash was captured on video by truck driver Jack Rivera, who was directly behind the semi truck that was struck. He told reporters, “My first thought is what just happened. I was in disbelief. I didn’t know what to think to be honest. I have never seen anything like that. I have never seen anything so deliberate.”

Mayeux has since been released on a $14,000 bond.
