A truck driver died in crash when a woman was driving the wrong way crashed into his rig in New Orleans on Friday.

Shannon Morris was driving the wrong way on a one-way road near the intersection of Franklin and North Claiborne avenues when her SUV hit a tanker. The truck lost control and crashed into a concrete sign post of a Quicky’s Discount Store. A fire broke out in the trucks cab and spread its way to the tanker. The truck driver couldn’t escape. The driver has remained unidentified but the tanker belonged to Tiger Fuel in Metairie.

Morris fled the scene for what she claimed was fear for her own safety but later called police. She suffered minor injuries and took a breathalyzer test. Test results are still pending. She will also face criminal charges though the NOPD refused to specify on the charges.
