
Hundreds of vehicles were stranded after snow and strong winds shut down portions of Interstate 70 in Colorado on Tuesday.
According to the Colorado Department of Transportation, more than 150 miles of Interstate 70 were shut down in response to Winter storm Ajax, which blanketed the area.
The highway was closed from Denver, Colorado to the Kansas state line on Tuesday morning.
Several accidents were reported in the area, including two jack-knifed semi trucks.
As of Tuesday evening, the Colorado Department of Transportation announced that most of the I-70 has reopened, however eastbound lanes from Burlington to the Kansas state line remains closed.

Although Colorado bore the brunt of the storm’s wrath, several other states including California, Nevada, Arizona, Texas, Utah, New Mexico, Kansas, and Wyoming were also affected.
Weather.com reports that Winter Storm Ajax will continue to impact the area throughout Tuesday night, before winding down by Wednesday morning.
