More than a year after a truck driver was killed during a robbery, U.S. Marshals are still on the hunt for the suspect.
It happened back on June 9, 2015, when 63-year-old Thomas Childs was at a loading dock at Ridgeway Industries in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, preparing for a delivery in New York.
Childs was standing by his truck when he was approached by an armed man. The suspect attempted to rob him, then shot driver twice, killing him at the scene. The suspect took less than $20 from the deceased trucker and fled the area.
Authorities later found Childs’ money and phone in a cemetery. Police accuse 38-year-old Rodney Shelton of the crime.
U.S. Marshal David B. Webb of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania stated,
“Rodney Shelton’s blatant disregard for human life has made this case a top priority for us. Our deputy U.S. marshals and our federal, state and local law enforcement partners will leave no stone unturned until this dangerous fugitive faces justice.”
Authorities are asking for the public’s help in finding the killer. KPLCTV reported that Shelton is said to be 5’9”, weigh around 170 pounds, with brown eyes, brown hair and multiple tattoos including his neck, head, and left hand.
Webb commented that “since he has been on the run for more than a year, he may have changed his appearance and his locale to stay under the radar.” Officials believe he may be working as a tattoo artist.
The United States Marshals Service is offering a $1,500 reward for information leading to Shelton’s arrest. The Citizens Crime Commission in Philadelphia is offering an additional $20,000 for information leading to his arrest and conviction.
Officials ask that anyone with information to call the U.S. Marshals Service Communications Center at 1-800-336-0102.
