After a semi truck rolled over in Mountain Home, Idaho, two people were hospitalized.
The incident occurred on Monday morning around 9 a.m. on Highway 20 at mile marker 24 in the Castle Rocks area.
According to Elmore County Police, a female semi truck driver was headed west when she lost control of her vehicle. KTVB reported that the truck veered over the center line, then crashed into a concrete guardrail.
The big rig then overturned and landed onto the driver’s side.
The truck came to a halt, but its trailer rolled down an embankment.
The driver’s load of peat moss spilled down the hill.
The driver was airlifted to St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center in Boise. Her passenger was also injured and was taken by ground ambulance to a hospital. Their names and the extent of their injuries have not been released.
Police believe that speed was a factor in the collision.
As of 9:30 a.m., one lane of Highway 20 was blocked while officials worked to signal traffic through the area. Drivers were told to except delays and to use caution.
The incident remains under investigation.
